In Texas, the CFNF Alliance is working with the fine folks who host NukeFreeTexas.org
Texas is facing 8 proposed new nuclear reactors: 2 at Comanche Peak, 2 in South Texas near San Antonio, 2 in Victoria, 2 in Amarillo. Yikes! But folks in Texas are fighting back to make Texas carbon-free and nuclear-free:
A study we did in collaboration with the SEED Coalition shows that San Antonio could save $1.4 to $3.1 billion by investing in efficiency and renewables rather than nuclear energy. Read it here: Energy Efficiency Potential: San Antonio's Bright Energy Future (October 9, 2008). You can also read a brief summary here, and a summary in slides here: San Antonio Energy Efficiency Potential: Preliminary Assessment in Slides (August 2008).
We went to Texas to discuss the Victoria plan at the Exelon Nuclear Victoria Texas Plant Forum:
Here, some Texas folks traveled up to Chicago to tell Exelon they don't want the Victoria plant.
